Applesauce Fig Spice Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. grated orange peel
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. applesauce
    1 c. dried figs, chopped
    1 c. Diamond walnuts, chopped
    2 Tbsp. milk
    1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Combine butter, brown sugar and egg; beat until fluffy.
    Stir in orange peel. Combine flour, pumpkin spice, baking soda and salt; blend into butter mixture alternately with applesauce.
    Stir in figs and walnuts.
    Spread into greased pan.
    Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
    Cool 5 minutes.
    Combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla; mix well.
    Spread over warm uncut bars.
    Cool completely before cutting.
    Yields 2 dozen.
