Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. cucumber
1/2 c. canning salt
8 onions
6 c. sugar
3 c. vinegar
2 Tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
2 c. water
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation

Slice cukes and onions, then mix in salt; cover and let stand 3 hours.
Drain well.
Make a syrup of the sugar, vinegar and water, turmeric, cloves and mustard seed.
Pour over cuke slices and place over low heat.
Heat but do not boil.
Pour into hot jars and seal.
