Speedy Caramel Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. milk
    2 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt butter in a large saucepan.
    Blend in brown sugar and salt.
    Cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    Add milk; continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Blend in confectioners sugar gradually.
    Add vanilla and mix well.
    Frosts 8 or 9-inch layer cake.
