Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 c. raisins
2 c. applesauce
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts (optional)

Preparation

I use a small amount of cocoa to help darken cake; not enough to taste.
