Sweet Potato Pie - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. cooked, mashed sweet potatoes
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
3 eggs
3/4 c. milk
2/3 c. maple flavored syrup
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
whipped cream (optional)
Preparation

Combine first 7 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Stir well and set aside.
Beat eggs; gradually add milk, syrup and vanilla, stirring until blended. Gradually stir egg mixture into sweet potato mixture and pour filling into pastry shell. Bake at 425\u00b0 for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 325\u00b0 and bake 1 hour and 5 to 10 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool; serve with whipped cream, if desired.
