Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs, separated
    2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 1/3 c. cold water
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Beat shortening, sugar and vanilla until light.
    Beat egg yolks slightly.
    Add to creamed mixture and continue to beat until fluffy.
    Stir together dry ingredients.
    Add alternately with water and mix at medium speed of mixer until well blended.
