Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (9-inch) cake layer (yellow or white)
    1 (No. 2 1/2 size) can crushed pineapple, drained
    1 c. chopped pecans (optional)
    1 can cherry pie filling
    1 carton Cool Whip
    1 box vanilla pudding or make your own pudding
Preparation
    Cut cake
    layer in half.
    Crumble one half in bottom of punch bowl.
    Mix\ttogether
    pineapple,
    pecans and cherry pie filling. Layer half of this mixture on cake crumbs.
