Hearty Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. pkg. lentils
    2 qt. water
    1 ham or beef soup bone
    1 lb. diced ham or beef stew meat, uncooked
    1 bay leaf
    1 c. sliced onion
    1 c. sliced carrot
    1 c. sliced celery
    2 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Rinse lentils and drain.
    Combine all ingredients in a 6-quart pan.
    Cover and bring to a boil, over medium-high heat.
    Reduce heat to low when boiling rapidly.
    Simmer 2 hours.
    Before serving, remove soup bone and bay leaf.
