Pickled Peppers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. large green bell peppers (about 9)
    boiling water
    2 c. white vinegar
    2 c. water
    1 c. granulated sugar
    8 cloves garlic
    4 tsp. salad oil or olive oil
    2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Wash peppers and cut in half lengthwise.
    Remove veins and seeds.
    Cut in lengthwise strips and pack in hot, sterilized pint jars.
    Cover with boiling water and let stand 5 minutes.
    Drain off water.
