Grandmother Walter'S Caramel Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    3 c. White Lily all-purpose flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. boiling water
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Grease and flour two
    9-inch
    round
    cake
    pans.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add
    flour
    and
    buttermilk,
    alternately. Dissolve soda in water and add
    to
    cake
    mixture.
    Beat well; add vanilla. Fill pans halfway with batter.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Allow to
    cool completely before icing with Grandmother Walter's Icing.
