Lemon Meringue Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
    7 Tbsp. cornstarch
    3 eggs, separated
    6 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
    1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. water
    3 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. grated lemon juice
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, cornstarch and water.
    Boil for 6 minutes, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat; stir in slightly beaten egg yolks.
    Return to low heat; cook for 6 minutes.
    Add butter, lemon juice and grated peel; stir only until well blended. Pour into pie shell.
    Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff; add remaining sugar and vanilla.
    Beat until firm peaks form; spread over lemon filling.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0 until meringue is lightly browned.
