Queen Elizabeth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. soda
1 c. sugar
1 beaten egg
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts

Preparation

Pour the boiling water over the dates and soda.
Let stand while the remaining ingredients are being mixed.
Add mixture to the first mixture.
Bake in a moderate oven (360\u00b0) for 35 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
