Sweet Fig Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 pounds figs
    1 cup boiling soda water
    1 quart vinegar
    7 cups sugar
    1/2 box pickling spice
Preparation
    Soak figs in boiling soda water and let stand 10 minutes. Drain and rinse twice in cold water.
    Add vinegar, sugar and spice and bring to a hard boil for 30 minutes.
    Pack into jars while boiling and seal.
