Popcorn Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large bowl popped corn
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. flavoring (your choice)
    food coloring (if desired)
Preparation
    Remove all unpopped kernels from the bowl of popped corn.
    In a saucepan, mix together sugar, syrup and cream of tartar.
    Bring it to a boil and cook without stirring to a hard cook test or 242\u00b0 on a candy thermometer.
    Add butter, soda, flavoring and coloring if desired.
    Pour quickly over the popped corn.
    Stir with a wooden spoon and then mold into large firm balls in the palms of your hands.
    Place on waxed paper to dry.
    You may make a face on the popcorn ball by using bits of cherry or raisins for eyes and mouths.
    They will look more attractive if covered with clear cellophane.
