Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    lettuce leaves
    4 to 6 stalks chopped celery
    1 large chopped bell pepper
    8 oz. fresh sliced mushrooms
    1 to 2 bunches sliced green onions
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas, thawed
    1 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. dry mustard
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    8 oz. pkg. sharp Cheddar cheese
    bacon bits (optional)
Preparation
    Tear lettuce by hand and make a 1 to 2-inch layer in the bottom of a clear glass salad bowl.
    Follow with a layer of celery, pepper, onion and mushrooms.
    Make sure peas are thawed; pat dry with paper toweling and add to top of salad.
