Cabbage Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. cabbage (large heads)
    1 large onion
    3/4 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    3/4 c. salad oil
    1 c. sugar
Preparation
    Peel off outside leaves of cabbage and onion.
    Grate the 2 together and place in a large bowl.
    Mix well.
    In saucepan, combine vinegar, salt, pepper, oil and sugar.
    Bring to a boil and pour boiling hot over the vegetables.
    Do not stir.
    Allow to sit undisturbed for 1 1/2 hours, then toss and mix.
    Store in refrigerator at least 12 hours before serving.
