Christmas Toffee - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter (not margarine, Land O Lakes)
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. clear Karo (or similar syrup)
nuts (your choice, 1 to 2 c. or more, broken or whole) *
chocolate (at least 1 c. sweet or semi-sweet)
Preparation

In large, heavy saucepan or Dutch oven, melt butter and add sugar, water and syrup.
Cook on medium heat, stirring seldom (with a wooden spoon, just to mix now and then) while the mixture bubbles fast, until it's at the golden brown \"hard crack\" stage (when a small bit dropped into cold water becomes brittle).
