Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of salt
    2 lb. round steak, cut 1-inch thick
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 (4 oz.) can mushroom pieces
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    1/2 green pepper, finely chopped
    1 c. tomatoes (canned or fresh)
Preparation
    Combine
    flour
    with
    salt and pepper; pound into meat. Brown on
    both
    sides in shortening in 10 or 12-inch skillet. Add remaining
    ingredients.
    Simmer, covered, on top of range or bake at
    350\u00b0
    for 1 1/2 or 2 hours.
    Serve with vegetable gravy. Makes 6 servings.
