Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. + 3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 egg
    5 Tbsp. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda mixed into buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    pinch of salt
    1/2 c. shortening
Preparation
    Mix the ingredients together thoroughly.
    Add plain flour gradually and mix to consistency of biscuit dough.
    Roll out on floured surface and cut with cookie cutter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until lightly browned.
    Keep in tight container.
    Tea cakes will keep for weeks.
