Chickpea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. hot or sweet sausage (out of casing)
    1 lb. fresh mushrooms
    2 cans (16 oz.) chickpeas
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 small cans tomato paste
    8 c. water
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Remove sausage from casings.
    Brown in frypan until cooked. Slice mushrooms lengthwise; add to sausage.
    Put sausage and mushrooms in large pan and add water, tomato paste, onion and chickpeas.
    Bring to a boil and simmer for at least 2 hours.
