Mama'S Eggless Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 to 1 1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 or 2 c. raisins
    2 c. sugar
    shortening (size of an egg)
    1 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix all and boil for 5 minutes.
    Let cool.
    Mix 1 tablespoon baking soda with a little cold water.
    Add to cooled mixture.
    Add enough flour for a thick dough (a little denser than a carrot cake batter).
    Bake in greased and floured pans at 350\u00b0 until tests done with toothpick (about 40 minutes).
    Makes 2 (9-inch) layers.
