Date Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cut in thirds 1 pound dates; add to this
1 1/2 cups boiling water.
Cream together the sugar, shortening, salt and egg.
Add the flour, soda and vanilla.
Mix in the dates and bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
