Beef-N-Noodles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. lean chuck, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
    2 Tbsp. fat
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. flour
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. chili powder
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    4 cloves
    2 tomatoes, peeled and quartered or 16 oz. can stewed tomatoes
    4 c. boiling water
    4 to 6 beef bouillon cubes
Preparation
    Brown meat slowly in hot fat in Dutch oven or heavy kettle. Sprinkle with sugar and continue browning until all meat is well-seared.
    Dust lightly with flour and continue browning.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil, then cover and lower to simmer.
    Simmer for approximately 2 hours or until meat is tender.
