Overnight Caramel Strata - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. packed dark brown sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
    12 white sandwich bread slices
    1 1/2 c. whole milk
    6 large eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
    Combine sugar, butter and corn syrup in heavy small saucepan. Stir mixture over medium-low heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves.
    Bring to boil.
    Pour into 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass baking dish.
    Tilt dish to coat bottom evenly; cool. Arrange 6 bread slices in single layer atop caramel, trimming bread to fit. Create second layer in same fashion.
    Whisk milk, eggs and vanilla in bowl to blend.
    Pour over bread.
    Cover and chill overnight.
