Joan'S Bran Muffin Mix - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. bran
    2 c. boiling water
    1 c. melted shortening
    3 c. sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    1 qt. buttermilk
    5 c. flour
    5 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over bran (2 cups) and let stand while assembling other ingredients.
    Mix in shortening.
    Mix remaining bran, sugar, eggs and buttermilk.
    Sift flour, salt and soda. Combine all ingredients and bake as needed at 400\u00b0 for 20 minutes. Mixture will keep 6 weeks or more in refrigerator.
    Makes 6 dozen.
