Ingredients

1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. plain flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks
egg whites
1 c. chopped nuts or coconut
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Cream butter, sugar and salt.
Add vanilla and egg yolks, one at a time.
Stir in flour.
Shape into 1-inch balls.
Dip into slightly beaten egg whites.
Roll in nuts or coconut.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet, one inch apart.
Make a depression in center of cookie.
Place chocolate bits in center of cookie.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
Date nut filling or jam can be used instead of chocolate bits.
