Mile-High Biscuits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 to 1/3 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 c. sweet milk
Preparation

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar. Cut shortening into flour mixture with pastry blender.
Stir in sugar.
Mix together egg and milk; add to other ingredients and stir to form a sticky dough.
Turn onto floured surface and knead 6 to 8 times.
Roll or pat dough to 1/2-inch thick; cut out biscuits with floured cutter.
Bake at 475\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes on ungreased sheet.
Makes about 15 biscuits.
