Shake Pickle(Icebox) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    small amount of salt
    1 tsp. alum
    1 tsp. celery salt
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    cukes
    onions
Preparation
    Fill gallon jar with cukes and sliced onions.
    Layer cukes and onions.
    Fill jar tight.
    Keep pressing down as you fill jar.
    Mix the ingredients.
    Pour over cukes and onions.
    Place jar in refrigerator and shake once a day for 8 days.
    Just turn the jar up and down or roll the jar over and over or do both for 8 days. Now ready to eat.
    Will keep a long time in jar in refrigerator.
