Southern Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/3 c. vegetable shortening
    2/3 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 450\u00b0.
    Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and soda.
    Turn into a medium bowl.
    Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse cornmeal.
    Add buttermilk and stir just until dough holds together.
    A little more buttermilk may be needed.
    Turn onto floured board and knead lightly until dough is smooth.
    Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Cut into rounds.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake 12 minutes or until golden. Makes 12 biscuits.
