Caramel Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. margarine
    2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 c. half and half, divided
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine margarine, sugar, salt and 3/4 cup half and half in a heavy saucepan.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
