Ingredients

1/2 lb. butter or margarine
3/4 c. packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
2 c. flour
1/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation

Cream sugar and butter.
Add the rest.
Press with hands into an ungreased 10 x 15-inch pan.
Sprinkle with colored sugar or chopped nuts.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 15 minutes or until dough springs back when lightly touched with fingers.
Cut while warm in pan.
