Browned Rice - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. uncooked white rice
2 1/2 c. boiling water
3/4 stick butter
1/4 c. minced onion
4 oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
8 oz. can water chestnuts, diced
3 Tbsp. soy sauce
Preparation

In a skillet, brown rice, stirring often until lightly browned. Turn into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish; add water and stir with a fork to separate rice grains. Cover and bake in a preheated 350\u00b0 oven 30 minutes or until rice is tender. Meanwhile in a skillet, over low heat, melt butter; add onion and mushrooms and saute until onions are transparent. Remove from heat and add water chestnuts and soy sauce. Add rice and blend gently. Return to casserole. Bake uncovered 15 minutes.
