Kosher Dill - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/8 tsp. powdered alum
    1 grape leaf
    1 hot pepper
    1 head or stalk of dill
    1 clove garlic
    1 small onion
    1 qt. apple vinegar
    1 c. salt
    3 c. water
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers well and let stand overnight in cold water. Pack in jars and add to each jar, the first 6 ingredients. Combine apple vinegar, salt and water.
    Boil and pour over cucumbers.
    Seal.
