Butterscotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
    1 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
    1 egg, unbeaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. pecans or walnuts, coarsely chopped
Preparation
    Combine butter, sugar, egg and vanilla in mixing bowl; beat well until light and fluffy.
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; stir into first mixture.
    Mix in chopped nuts.
    Spread in greased 8-inch square baking pan.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.
    Let cool in pan and cut into squares while slightly warm.
    Roll or toss in powdered sugar.
    Makes 16 (2-inch) chewy squares.
