Heart Healthy Mediterranean Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. boneless lean beef for stew, cut into 1-inch pieces
    2 Tbsp. reduced calorie margarine
    1 c. sliced onion
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. tomato paste
    2 Tbsp. raisins
    2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
    2 tsp. red wine
    1 tsp. honey
    1 garlic clove
    1 bay leaf
    1 cinnamon stick
    1/4 tsp. each: ground cloves and ground cumin
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Broil beef on rack about 20 minutes or until rare, turning once.
    Melt margarine in medium saucepan.
    Add onion and beef; cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
    Cover and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Remove garlic, bay leaf and cinnamon stick before serving.
    May be thickened with flour.
    Makes 4 servings.
