Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavoring
1 1/2 oz. red food coloring
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar, egg and flavorings.
Make
a paste of cocoa and coloring.
Add to first mixture.
Alternately add flour and buttermilk.
Mix soda and vinegar in small bowl.
Add to batter and blend.
Bake in 3 (9-inch) pans for 20 to 25 minutes at 350\u00b0 until toothpick inserted in middle is clean.
Cool and frost.
