Mexican Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 tsp. oil
    1 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1/2 tsp. soda
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 beaten egg
    2 tsp. minced onion flakes
    1 c. creamed corn
    3 or more chopped chili peppers (optional)
    1 c. sharp grated cheese
    1/4 c. salsa (optional to use just before bread is done)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Put 3 teaspoons oil into the skillet to heat while preparing.
    Mix meat, soda and onion.
    Add egg, milk and corn; stir well.
    Add peppers and cheese.
    Bake for 15 minutes.
    The last 5 minutes, spoon salsa around edge of bread. Continue baking until done.
    May be served with barbecue.
    Makes 6 servings.
