Bread And Butter Pickles(For Weight Watchers) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. unpeeled cucumbers, sliced thin
    8 small onions, sliced thin
    2 large sweet peppers, sliced
    1/2 c. coarse salt
    5 c. vinegar (apple cider)
    3 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    artificial sweetener to equal 5 c. sugar (5 to 6 Tbsp. Sweet 'N Low)
Preparation
    Cut cucumbers in paper-thin slices.
    Let onion, peppers, cucumber and salt
    stand
    covered with ice water for 3 hours in large container;
    drain.
    Make
    a syrup from sweetener, vinegar and spices.
    When
    sweetener is dissolved, add drained pickles. Bring to a
    boil, but do not boil.
    Pack in sterilized jars and process in
    boiling
    water
    for
    5 minutes.
    Pickles taste best when chilled completely before serving.
