Caramel Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    4 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/16 tsp. soda
    1 c. pecans or coconut
Preparation
    Cook 1 cup sugar in iron skillet until browned.
    Cook 2 cups sugar, milk and butter until soft ball stage.
    Add browned sugar to this and cook until soft ball stage.
    Remove from heat and add soda.
    This boils up fast when soda is added (be careful).
    Beat and add nuts.
