Josie'S Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. washed raw rice
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 c. chopped bell pepper
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 can whole peeled tomatoes (or stewed tomatoes)
    1 tsp. cumin
    3 c. chicken broth
    3 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
    4 Tbsp. oleo or peanut oil
    black pepper to taste
Preparation
    Melt oleo (or oil) in large skillet or 3 quart saucepan.
    Add uncooked rice and cook over moderate heat until golden brown, stirring often.
    Add onion, salt, black pepper, garlic and bell pepper; cook until onions are lightly browned.
    Stir in chili powder and tomato; cook 30 seconds longer.
    Add cumin and broth, return to boil.
