7 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large head lettuce, cut up
    1/4 c. sweet or green onion
    1/2 c. celery, chopped
    6 oz. can water chestnuts or radishes or 1/2 and 1/2
    10 oz. pkg. frozen peas
    1/2 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
    4 tomatoes, cut in wedges
    2 to 3 hard-cooked eggs, sliced
    2 c. mayonnaise or Miracle Whip or 1/3 Miracle Whip and 2/3 sour cream
    shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Layer lettuce, onion, celery and water chestnuts.
    Sprinkle on still frozen peas, then a light sprinkling of sugar and salt. Spread mayonnaise like frosting over peas.
    Cover with Cheddar cheese.
    Refrigerate overnight.
    Top with bacon and decorate with the tomatoes and egg slices.
