Make-A-Meal-Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. smoked sausage, thinly sliced
    1 onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    3 c. water
    2 chicken bouillon cubes
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    3 carrots, chopped
    3 celery stalks, chopped
    1/4 head cabbage, cut into 1-inch chunks
    2 Tbsp. uncooked rice
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans
    1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, brown onion in oil until tender.
    Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
    Makes 8 servings.
