Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. chopped dates
    1 c. hot water
    3/4 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Put dates in hot water.
    Let cool.
    Cream butter and sugar. Beat eggs until fluffy and add to cream mixture.
    Sift flour, soda, salt and add to cream mixture.
    Add date mixture, vanilla and chocolate chips.
    Put in greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0.
