Ingredients

3 eggs
1 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. soft butter or margarine
3 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. buttermilk, salad oil or shortening
Preparation

In large bowl of electric mixer at high speed, beat eggs with sugar and butter until very light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Scrape sides of bowl occasionally.
Sift flour with baking powder, soda, salt and nutmeg; set aside.
At low speed, gradually beat buttermilk into egg and sugar mixture.
Add flour mixture gradually; beat at low speed just until smooth.
Dough will be soft.
Then deep fry.
