England-Style Bean Soup(You Can Make This Soup In Less Than 20 Minutes.) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. finely chopped ham
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, cut up
1/2 c. water
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (1 lb. 6 oz.) can New England-Style baked beans
Preparation

Cook ham, onion and green pepper in bacon drippings in large skillet until meat is browned and vegetables are tender.
Add tomatoes, water, brown sugar, vinegar and salt.
Cover and simmer 10 minutes.
(You may have to put into a larger saucepan.) Reserve 1 cup beans from can.
Mash the remainder.
Add reserved and mashed beans to soup.
Heat thoroughly, stirring occasionally. Makes about 5 cups.
(Serve with a slice of corn bread, lettuce salad, baked apple or other fruit and cookies, with milk to drink. Makes a great meal.)
