Pear Preserves - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 qt. pears, sliced or chopped
1 c. water or juice
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 or 3 slices lemon (if desired)
Preparation

Pare fruit (if hard, cook until tender in water). Make syrup of liquid and sugar.
Add fruit to partly cooled syrup and bring gently to boil. Add lemon, if desired. Boil rapidly until clear and tender. Cool rapidly.
Let stand in syrup to plump. Pack fruit into sterilized jars and add reheated syrup to within 1/2-inch of top.
Seal immediately.
