Stewed Okra - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. okra
    1 medium sized onion
    2 Tbsp. olive or salad oil
    1 (14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/4 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    About 30 minutes before serving, trim stems from okra.
    Dice onion.
    In 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat in hot olive or salad oil, cook onion until tender.
    Stir okra, tossing to coat well.
    Add tomatoes with their liquid, salt, sugar, pepper and 1/2 cup water over high heat; heat to boiling.
    Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 15 minutes or until okra is tender.
    Makes 8 accompaniment servings.
