Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg (unbeaten)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift together flour, baking soda and salt onto wax paper.
Put shortening, peanut butter, sugar and light brown sugar in mixing bowl and cream until well blended.
Add unbeaten egg and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy.
Stir in sifted dry ingredients and blend thoroughly to make a stiff dough.
Shape dough into balls with hands, using about 1 tablespoon of dough for each ball, and place directly on greased baking sheet.
Flatten each ball with fork.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes.
Remove cookies immediately from baking sheet to rack to cool.
