Chicken Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) cut up chicken
    3 qt. boiling water
    salt
    1 1/2 lb. ham
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. okra
    1 large onion, chopped
Preparation
    Place chicken pieces and ham slices in large Dutch oven.
    Pour on boiling water.
    Cover and simmer 1 hour.
    Add vegetables. Simmer 1 hour longer.
    Taste for seasoning.
    Remove bones from chicken and ham.
    Let meat cool.
    Dice.
    Return to soup for 5 minutes before serving.
