Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce torn
    1/2 c. green peppers, chopped
    1/2 c. celery, chopped
    1 sm. pkg. (10 oz.) frozen peas
    1 med. onion, diced
    4 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
    8 strips bacon, fried and crumbled
    2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Mix mayonnaise and sugar together and set aside.
    Layer first 5 ingredients in 9 x 13 inch casserole in order given.
    Next, spread mayonnaise mixture over it as if icing a cake.
    Finally, sprinkle the cheese and bacon over top.
    Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24 hours or overnight.
